Tos Chirathivat is the executive chairman and CEO of Central Group, the biggest mall developer in Thailand. The company traces its roots to the small shop run by Tiang Chirathivat, Tos's grandfather; his father, Samrit Chirathivat, is credited with opening the first shopping centre in Thailand in 1954, and served as chairman for 21 years before Tos stepped up in 2014. Today Central Group is a regional leader in the retail, property development, brand management, hospitality, and food and beverage sectors, with forays in digital lifestyle, and the Chirathivat family is among Thailand's wealthiest.

Central Retail, the company's private retail arm, was listed in February 2020, raising THB 2.5 billion in what became the largest IPO in the history of Thailand. In 2022, Central Group acquired UK brand Selfridges, the upscale chain of department stores, as part of Tos Chirathivat’s plan to secure a massive stake in Europe’s luxury shopping market for Central. The company had previously acquired Italian luxury department store Rinascente in 2011, Denmark's Illum in 2013, the German KaDeWe (in 2015, and Globus from Switzerland in 2020.

In a 2022 press release, Tos Chirathivat announced that the company had “achieved a remarkable milestone,” as its acquisitions gave Central the world's largest international presence of department store network, spanning across 11 countries, 80 cities, and 120 locations.”
