The Galanistas | A down-to-earth fashionista who brings timeless flair and advocacy wherever she goes

An epitome of grace and elegance, Tootsy Echauz-Angara is a standout presence at any event. She consistently turns heads everywhere she goes, especially at the State of the Nation Address events, as she champions Filipino pride by incorporating traditional textiles and accessories into her wardrobe choices.

The cluster head of sales for ABS-CBN, one of the country’s top media networks, sees fashion as a form of advocacy. Growing up with model-turned-activist mother Baboo Mondoñedo, Tootsy was exposed early to social justice while living among activists in the Cordillera region during martial law. This unique upbringing made her a strong advocate for local artisans and sustainable fashion, a passion she expresses through clothes.

Alongside her husband, former senator and now Secretary of the Department of Education Sonny Angara, Tootsy also champions gender equality, education and youth empowerment, always with an eye on promoting local culture.

Whether in chic business attire or sophisticated evening gowns, she reflects her dedication to social justice and her deep connection to her roots. Beyond her professional and advocacy work, she is a devoted wife and mother of three, known for her timeless flair and unwavering dedication to giving back.

“I knew that every time I wore textiles from the Cordillera, it made my mother proud.”
