There’s a lot of speculation going around the finance sector after the announcement of Tigor Siahaan’s resignation from PT Bank CIMB Niaga. Industry pundits believe he will be joining Emtek-Grab’s digital bank. If true, Emtek-Grab’s owners must have big ambitions if they are hiring a veteran banker with such an impressive record.

Siahaan’s rise to the top started in 1995 when he joined Citi Indonesia. He was appointed country officer in 2011, the first Indonesian to be assigned the post. After 20 years with Citi, Siahaan moved to PT Bank CIMB Niaga to assume the role of president director and CEO.

On his departure, Siahaan left his former employer a special parting gift: CIMB Niaga posted a 69% jump in its year-on-year unaudited consolidated net profit, a spectacular rise from its pre-pandemic numbers.
