Books.com.tw founder Terry Chang is ahead of his time, having founded Taiwan’s first online bookstore in 1995—a year after the world’s first online bookstore was launched. At the turn of the decade, Chang’s Books.com.tw teamed up with 7-Eleven to serve as a 24-hour pick-up point for online book orders. This initial collaboration eventually turned into a partnership, when the parent company of the convenience store chain invested NT$140 million in the website.

In April 2009, Chang launched his second bookstore, TAAZE, a buy-and-sell platform catering to readers who have a tall stack of old titles that they might want to let go of.
