Terrance Lau

Hong Kong actor Terrance Lau got his big break in the 2019 release Beyond the Dream, in which he portrayed a PE teacher who experiences recurrent schizophrenic episodes. His performance garnered critical acclaim, with nominations for best new performer at the Hong Kong Film Awards and Golden Horse Awards, and gongs for best actor and best new performer at the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards and Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild Awards respectively.

He next appeared in Anita (2021), the Anita Mui biopic, portraying Leslie Cheung—a role, he has said, he almost turned down due to the pressure of portraying an icon. In 2024, he appeared in four films, including Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, Hong Kong’s entry for the best international feature film category at next year’s Oscars.
