A sports figure who is leading Malaysia’s sports aspirations

Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, the president of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) and Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), has been part of the national sports agenda for quite a while. He previously served as the chairman of the National Sports Institute, the honorary treasurer of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and president of Kuala Lumpur Badminton Association.

In addition to helming OCM and BAM, he is also the president of the Commonwealth Games Association of Malaysia, the president of the Royal Malaysian Polo Association and a board member of National Sports Council (NSC). Among his notable achievements is leading Malaysia’s three silver medal win in badminton at the 2016 Rio Olympics as well as the Malaysian contigent’s record-breaking 62 gold medal win at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore.

A chartered accountant, Mohamad Norza started his career with Arthur Anderson & Co. He has served in senior leadership positions at Bank Negara Malaysia, Petronas and SPK-Sentosa Corporation, before founding his own company Citaglobal Sdn Bhd in 2008, which has interests in oil and gas, real estate, energy and power, and media and digital marketing.
