PSA International’s CEO is the captain and chief steward of “the world’s port of call”

Tan Chong Meng is the group CEO of global port group PSA International, which operates a network of more than 60 coastal, rail and inland terminals, in addition to affiliated warehouses, distriparks and marine services businesses worldwide. Positioned as “the world’s port of call”, PSA has flagship operations in Singapore and Antwerp, and is owned by Temasek Holdings.

PSA was recently cited by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for investing in and adopting digital infrastructure, which the premier feels is critical to have more people worldwide become part of the digital economy. Speaking virtually at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation 2021 CEO Summit, PM Lee made reference to PSA “layering digital connectivity onto physical connectivity”, for example by creating digital platforms  to track shipments more effectively.

Tan, a former board member of IE Singapore, is also chairman of Jurong Town Corporation and a non-executive director on the National University Health System board. The 20-year veteran of Shell Group was also appointed co-chair of Singapore’s Emerging Stronger Task Force in April 2020, a committee meant to guide the country’s economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.
