Susana "Chuchu" Madrigal

Philanthropist, Consuelo Madrigal Foundation

A board member of Makati Medical Center and head of the Consuelo Madrigal Foundation, Chuchu Madrigal-Eduque is one of the Philippines’ most prominent philanthropists

Chuchu Madrigal-Eduque credits much of who she is today to her aunt Consuelo “Chito” Madrigal, a distinguished businesswoman, philanthropist, and civic worker. The Madrigal matriarch’s eponymous nonprofit, the Consuelo Madrigal Foundation, was founded in 1997 and provides livelihood training, microfinancing, scholarships, early learning programs, and health programs, among other efforts. Madrigal-Eduque is now the head of her aunt’s foundation, and as such, has built upon her family’s philanthropic efforts.

Apart from her involvement in the Consuelo Madrigal Foundation, Madrigal-Eduque is also a director at the Makati Medical Center and a patron-advocate of many other worthy causes. She has supported the housing nonprofit Habitat for Humanity, the Catholic Ministry for the Deaf, as well as the nonprofit ICanServe, which provides support to cancer patients. Having survived cancer herself, Madrigal-Eduque has been an active partner of ICanServe, and has committed to shoulder the cost of treatment for one cancer patient every year through the Cancer Samurai Scholar Fund.

Significantly, Madrigal-Eduque has passed on her penchant for philanthropy to her daughter Alex Eduque, who founded the MovEd Foundation, a nonprofit that works to provide basic early education to young children in need.
