The chairman of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKSTP) since 2018, Sunny Chai heads an organisation responsible for fostering technological innovation in the city. He brings to the job skills learned in his other job, as group managing director of his family’s company, Fook Tin Group, where he has worked for over 30 years. There he has consistently championed innovation, transforming the company from a small general merchandise factory into the world’s leading manufacturer of scales, and developing products for the medical, industrial, and automotive industries; more recently it has moved into electronic components.


Given the Young Industrialist Award of Hong Kong in 2004, Chai is a council member of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and chairman of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Foundation. He is a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the holder of a Bronze Bauhinia Star and a Justice of the Peace.
