The climate crisis is heading towards emergency levels of severity, affecting everyone and everything on the planet. It will take a collective effort from humanity to halt and reverse the catastrophe. Datin Seri Sunita Rajakumar tackles the climate emergency through the World Economic Forum’s Climate Governance Initiative (CGI), aimed at mobilising boards across the world to accelerate net zero transition and enable climate corporate governance.

Sunita set up the local chapter of CGI, Corporate Governance Malaysia (CGM), in May 2019 which has since held many private and public sector engagement sessions on climate action. CGM is the first in Asia Pacific and only the second chapter in the world. It has since organised over 200 events and grown its newsletter to almost 5,000 subscribers. She also collaborates with CEO Action Network (CAN), an industry-led initiative by company CEOs to increase sustainability and push the climate governance agenda. Aside from her active involvement in sustainability advocacy, Sunita has been on boards of listed companies since 2002, as well as the trustee of six charitable foundations.
