Founder, owner and chef, Meta
Born in South Korea and trained by Japanese and French chefs in Sydney, including the legendary Tetsuya Wakuda, Sun Kim combines elements of various cuisines at Meta. In 2017, the restaurant received its first Michelin star, and in 2021 it was given the One To Watch Award by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. Kim enjoys experimenting with foods close to his heart, from childhood comfort foods to Southeast Asian flavours. In 2023, he started Tambi, a casual Southern Indian and Korean eatery with Penang-born chef Mano Thevar.
