One of Indonesia’s 100 richest people, Sugiono Wiyono Sugialam is a key player in the country’s telecommunication landscape as CEO of Trikomsel

Sugiono Wiyono Sugialam is the president director and chief executive officer of PT Trikomsel Oke, an Indonesia-based company engaged in the retail distribution of telecommunication products, including major mobile-phone brands Nokia, Apple and Samsung. He is also the president director of its former rival company PT Global Teleshop Tbk, which he took control of in 2011.

Sugialam founded the Jakarta-based Trikomsel in 1996, which was later listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2009. In 2011, he bought into the Singapore-based tech retailer Polaris Ltd and took control of the company two years later. Polaris became the parent company of Trikomsel through a series of share swaps in 2014. Sugialam currently sits on Polaris’ board as Chairman.

Sugialam, with total assets of US$480 million, is the 83rd--richest person in Indonesia. A graduate of Surayaba University in East Java, he holds a degree in economics and company management. He started his career as a salesman.
