The real estate tycoon behind property group OUE is also a noted philanthropist
Indonesian-Chinese tycoon Dr Stephen Riady is executive chairman and group CEO of OUE, a diversified real estate company involved in the hospitality, retail, commercial and residential sectors. The firm’s assets include Mandarin Orchard Singapore (which is its flagship hotel), the upscale Mandarin Gallery retail space, the Grade-A OUE Bayfront office building and OUE Twin Peaks, a residential development comprising two identical 35-storey towers.
Dr Riady, a graduate of the University of Southern California, is the son of business magnate Mochtar Riady of Indonesia’s Lippo Group. He holds various other positions outside OUE, including permanent honorary chairman of the Singapore Research Centre of the Institute for Global Development of Tsinghua University, executive vice-president of the China Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs and trustee of the Global Board of Trustees of Asia Society.
A honorary patron of the Securities Investors Association Singapore, Dr Riady founded the Stephen Riady Group of Foundations in 2010. The group makes regular donations to support causes such as environmental conservation, education, health, sports, and humanitarian and social development. OUE is also a key sponsor of the Halogen Foundation, a charity aimed at transforming the lives of young people through leadership and entrepreneurship development.

Dr Stephen Riady purchased a Good Class Bungalow at Nassim Road from an OUE subsidiary for SG$95 million in December 2019.
