Chart-topping Mandopop queen noted for selling more than 30 million records over her 23-year career

Chart-topping Mandopop queen Stefanie Sun has sold more than 30 million records over her 23-year career and is now marking her much-anticipated return to the stage.

A veteran of the Mandopop world, Singapore’s Stefanie Sun Yanzi made headlines in 2022 when she held a virtual concert on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, amassing a record 240 million viewers and reaffirming her iconic status. Despite her fame, Sun fell victim to an AI voice clone in 2023, which ironically sparked a surge of renewed interest in her timeless music.

Her storied legacy was celebrated with the “Aut Nihilo: Sun Yanzi in Concert (2025)” tour. Known for her powerful vocals and heartfelt lyrics, the tour spanned six concerts across multiple countries, which kicked off with four dates at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on April 5, 6, 12, and 13, 2025. She commands the stage for almost three hours, showcasing her iconic hits and new surprises.

Sun’s remarkable achievements began with her award-winning debut album in 2000, shortly after graduating from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). By September 2001, her first three albums had collectively sold 1.5 million copies. In 2003, she also established Make/Music, a talent management agency and production house to develop and mentor young music talent.

In her private life, Sun is a mother of two and is married to Nadim Van Der Ros, the founder of brand consultancy Be An Idea.
