Re-invigorating stories through art, Sonny Liew worked in multiple small time comic shops before finding his voice through his publication of The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye. Documenting the tumultuous saga of the birth of the Singaporean nation, The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye became an overnight graphic novel sensation -- topping international book charts. The controversial graphic novel (the National Arts Council withdrew a publishing grant, citing “sensitive content”) won numerous prizes: including the 2017 Eisner Award Winner for Best Writer/Artist, Best US Edition of International Material—Asia, and Best Publication Design, Winner of the Singapore Literature Prize 2016 -- to name a few. Coming in 2019, Sonny will be bring Adventure Time to into the physical world by taking the helm of turning it into a graphic novel.
