Somsak Boonkam works to make tourism sustainable, allowing villages to protect their environments and control their destinies. His company Local Alike runs workshops and training sessions that have persuaded people in more than 200 communities across 46 provinces in Thailand to pool their resources for mutual benefit. It has created more than 2,000 part-time jobs, and brought in some 32,000 travellers and nearly US$2 million worth of community benefits.
