The first Filipino and first Asian to win ‘The Voice USA’, now shaping a global music journey rooted in pride and heart
Sofronio Vasquez made history in December 2024 when he became the first Filipino—and the first Asian—champion of The Voice USA. Representing Team Michael Bublé, he captivated global audiences, earning praise for his vocal power, sincerity and faith-centered presence. His victory became a milestone moment for Filipino representation on international television.
Following his triumph, Vasquez returned home to a hero’s welcome. He made a courtesy visit to Malacañang and performed before President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. He then mounted his first solo concert in Cebu City, where fans celebrated his breakthrough into the global spotlight. The Senate of the Philippines unanimously passed a resolution in January 2025 commending his achievements and contributions to Filipino excellence.
He continued to take on national stages, including performing the Philippine National Anthem at President Marcos Jr.'s State of the Nation Address on July 28, 2025—a distinction reserved for the country’s most respected vocalists.
In March 2025, Vasquez signed with Star Magic, marking a major step in formalising his career in Asia and expanding into recording, touring and collaborations. As he moves from television champion to rising international music artist, he carries with him not only exceptional talent but the pride of a diaspora inspired by his success.
