Los Angeles-based Singaporean filmmaker Siyou Tan makes playful, genre-hopping works that tell stories of rebellion and freedom. Her short Hello Ahma (2019) premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Berlinale, while Strawberry Cheesecake (2021) was shown at the Locarno Film Festival. In 2022, her first feature, Amoeba, received the Hubert Bals Fund’s Script and Development Grant. Tan is also an award-winning visual artist, who has worked with brands like Chanel, Mercedes and Nike.
