After politics, Sisy Chen continues to wield influence through her TV show Sisy’s World News

A politician, journalist, feminist, and author, Sisy Chen started her media career as a writer for the American edition of China Times at 23, and later as editor of the political opposition’s New Tide magazine. Years before her stint at National Taiwan University, she already showed signs of becoming an influential writer by turning in essays with solid arguments as a young girl.

“The women should not always submit to men; females have to prove their outstanding skill,” she once said. When she turned her sights on politics, she became director of the Cultural Propaganda Department of the Democratic Progressive Party, a spokesperson for the Democratic Progressive Party, and a non-party legislator.

Outspoken and critical of wrongdoing in government and society, Chen hosts the weekly show Sisy’s World News on TV and the daily UFO Dinner on radio.
