Successfully melding business and a noble cause, Shiu Ling Kao currently serves as the chairman of Uni-President Group, founded by her father, Ching Yuan Kao. She oversees the conglomerate’s affiliates and subsidiaries such as Uni-President Beauty Business, with a focus on department stores, shopping malls, and pharmaceuticals; while her husband, Alex Lo, heads Uni-President Enterprises Corp.

As chair, she demonstrates a knack for innovation recognized by contemporaries. In 2014, she designed and launched the company’s first luxury beauty shop, Beauty Forum No. 1 (美人塾1號), to integrate resources from the group’s beauty businesses and to introduce their beauty-related brands. In 2014, Forbes ranked Uni-President among the Top 2000 companies in the world. In 2018 and 2019, Uni-President’s revenue reached approximately NT$30 billion.
