Founder, Shao Yen
Shao-Yen Chen, who specialises in metal processing, graduated from the Institute of Clothing Fabric Design at Central Saint Martins. In 2009, he was awarded the 2009 Fashion Weekend/La Vif Award for emerging designers in Brussels, Belgium. In 2010, he founded the brand Shao Yen. He has participated in international fashion weeks many times and remains active in important fashion events around the world. In 2011, Shao-Yen was invited to create an image for singer Björk's new album. In 2014, he was selected to participate in fashion exhibition The Future of Fashion is Now in Museu Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, in the Netherlands. Two years later, he and five other Taiwanese designers held the About Clothes fashion x art cross-border exhibition with calligraphy artist Tong Yang Tse, which presented the calligraphy in three-dimensional costumes. In 2017, Shao-Yen participated in the special exhibition Mode in Taiwan in La Cité de la dentelle et de la mode de Calais. He was also invited to the International Fashion Exhibition (IFS), where his creation based on Taiwan's red and white plastic bags became a hot topic. For many years, Shao-Yen has showed his different fashion views through his avant-garde designs.
