Olympic athlete Sarah Lee Wai-sze undoubtedly holds the title of Hong Kong’s all-time most successful cyclist. Throughout her racing career, she remained at the top of her game, and proudly accounts for two out of the total nine Olympic medals Hong Kong has ever won since its first entry in 1952; taking bronze at both London 2012 and Tokyo 2020. These wins make Lee Wai-sze the only Hong Kong Olympian to have won medals in multiple Olympic years. In addition, Lee Wai-sze took glory at the Asian Games, winning two gold medals apiece at both the 2014 and 2018 Asian Games. Out of respect for her achievements, she has been named Hong Kong Athlete of the Year five times. As an affectionate nod to her roots, Lee Wai-sze is known to Hong Kongers by the nickname, "The cycling goddess of Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate."

In June 2023, Lee Wai-Sze announced her retirement from professional cycling, saying she hoped to switch to coaching Hong Kong's short-distance cycling team.
