Installing gravity water systems, developing sustainable fish and vegetable farming, building suspension bridges and coaching local entrepreneurs—Sam Lee’s organisation Hopes Malaysia has been transforming the fortunes of Sabah’s impoverished rural families. Since 2016, it has enabled thousands of rural residents to produce their own food and access clean water, all with village participation and local volunteers.
