With his new post as ambassador to the US, Rosan Roeslani’s career path has become as diversified as the portfolio of Recapital Group, the company he co-founded

Before becoming a diplomat, Rosan Roeslani pursued a career in finance by working in Indonesia’s banking industry. In 1997, he co-founded his own company, now known as Recapital Group, which evolved to become a financial powerhouse that handles asset management, insurance and securities.

Apart from overseeing his growing business empire, Roeslani was also involved with various organisations, more recently as Chef de Mission for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, and as chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. At one point, he was one of three Indonesian businessmen who bought a 70 per cent share in Inter Milan, one of the biggest football clubs in Italy.

Roeslani’s diplomatic role brings even bigger challenges, with Indonesia’s business community pressing to boost trade ties with the US.
