2020 was a good year for EV Growth’s managing partner, Roderick Purwana. Under his wing, EV Growth closed funds amounting to USD 200 million to cover Southeast Asia’s Series B funding gap. Among his high-profile investments are Ruangguru, Waresix and ShopBack. Purwana also brought in a 27% internal rate of return through the sale of Moka POS to Gojek. No wonder his company was was awarded Fundraiser of the Year by the Singapore Venture Capital and Private Equity Association.

After his appointment as managing partner for East Ventures this March, Purwana seems headed for bigger numbers. In the coming months, East Ventures embarked on a series of deployments, that includes co-leading the funding for fintech and legal start-up Qapita, a USD 8.8 million deployment for health food chain SaladStop Group, and a Series A investment in Geniebook.

Purwana’s growth targets are on track, especially after East Ventures’ announcement of its plans to enter UAE’s market.
