Ricky Chiu became a well-known figure in Hong Kong during the pandemic, with his company Phase Scientific conducting millions of PCR tests for the Hong Kong government. It also developed Covid testing products that include the popular Indicaid rapid antigen test. Phase was founded to commercialise Ricky’s PhD research, a sample-preparation technology that can improve the performance of many diagnostic tools. The company has raised over US$20 million in funding.
