CEO, Binance
Steering the world’s largest crypto exchange through regulation, trust-building, and the next phase of global digital finance
Richard Teng is the CEO of Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume. Appointed in November 2023, Teng now leads the company through a pivotal moment in the global digital asset industry—where trust, transparency, and regulation are reshaping the future of crypto.
A seasoned financial executive with over 30 years of experience, Teng brings rare credibility to the role. Prior to Binance, he served as CEO of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority at Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), where he earned global respect as a progressive regulator. His earlier career included key roles such as Chief Regulatory Officer at the Singapore Exchange (SGX) and Director of Corporate Finance at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
Teng joined Binance in 2021, quickly rising through the ranks to head regional markets before being tapped to succeed founder Zhao Changpeng. Since taking the helm, he has doubled down on compliance, risk management, and regulatory engagement; working closely with policymakers and financial authorities to bring Binance in line with global standards. His leadership marks a deliberate shift in tone and strategy for the company, now focused on long-term sustainability, licensing, and user protection.
With degrees in applied finance and a reputation for bridging the gap between innovation and regulation, Teng is now one of the most influential voices shaping the future of digital finance. As the crypto industry matures, he is positioning Binance, and the broader ecosystem, for a new era of legitimacy, utility, and global integration.
