Renita Adrian is Programme Director of Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation, which has been working to preserve and embolden Indonesian culture since 1992 by working with practitioners of the performing arts. She joined the group in 2007 as corporate communications manager, before moving on to her current position in 2010.

As part of her work with the Foundation, Adrian is also the woman behind Galeri Indonesia Kaya, an innovative and digital-forward art gallery and the first of its kind in the country. Launched in 2013, Galeri Indonesia Kaya’s vision is to make Indonesian culture more accessible to the public, particularly the younger generation, through digital technology and fun exhibitions.

The space and its displays are accessible online as a sort of library, which also hosts a web series about Indonesian food and travel. In 2018, Adrian was also involved in the development of Taman Indonesia Kaya, a public space for art in Semarang, East Java, complete with an open theatre.

During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Galeri Indonesia Kaya pursued its mission through the use of online videos, airing musicals based on local folklore and traditions.
