Ren Ping Chen (陳人平 ) founded Hiin Studio (海湧工作室) in 2017, an organisation that focuses on marine education. Through diverse approaches such as beach cleaning experiences, environmental education lectures, plastic reduction initiatives within communities, and upgrading beach cleaning equipment, the group advocates for waste reduction at its source. It actively engages with environmental organisations to contribute to plastic reduction policy formulation and educational promotion, with a focus on reducing the use of disposable tableware.

Hiin Studio has organised over 500 beach cleaning events, conducted more than 1,200 lectures, reached an audience of over 164,000 people, engaged more than 40,000 individuals in beach cleaning activities, and removed 172 metric tons of coastal waste. Each beach cleaning event typically involves the removal of nearly 100-200 kilograms of marine debris and garbage. Most importantly, through these practical beach cleaning efforts, more and more people are becoming concerned and engaged in discussions about the state of coastal environments.

Ren Ping Chen was recognised as one of New Taipei City’sTen Influential Figures (新北十影響力人物) in 2022, and received the Contribution to Social Education Award the year after
