Ray Chiu

A series of deadly gas explosions in Kaohsiung in 2014 spurred Ray Chiu to develop smart bio-sensory applications that can detect complex gases accurately in real time. Armed with a background in biochemical engineering, Ray co-founded Calyx in 2014 to provide sensors based on bacteriophages, viruses that live in bacteria. The sensors enhance health and safety standards in industries from agriculture to manufacturing and aviation.
