President Director, Aneka Gas Industri
Heading the most prominent gas company in Indonesia, Rachmat Harsono of Aneka Gas Industri, led the pivot during the pandemic to deliver medical oxygen needs to those suffering with the coronavirus
Responding to the suffering caused by the global pandemic to health centres, Rachmat Harsono pivoted his company, Aneka Gas Industri, the largest industrial gas producer in Indonesia, to cater to the nation’s needs. They ramped up production and distribution capacities of medical oxygen during Covid-19 to meet the needs of hospitals during Indonesia’s most severe public-health emergency in decades.
As President Director of the company, Harsono worked tirelessly and co-ordinated with Indonesia’s Ministry of Health to keep up with the sudden demand. The group is also among the few local producers of hydrogen peroxide, a liquid disinfectant effective in killing coronavirus on surfaces. While companies only sold this cleanser to industries, Aneka Gas Industri has made the product available to the public.
Harsono holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Chicago and a bachelor of science from Marquette University, USA. Previously, he held the position of secretary general for Lembaga Ketahanan Nasional and vice-secretary general at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
