The architect behind acclaimed projects such as the Annso Hill and Songtsam Lodge Laigu hotels in Yunnan province, Qi Shanshan is helping to fight the gender imbalance in the architectural profession with a firm that employs more than 90 percent female staff. Also a teacher at Zhejiang University, she studied for her doctorate with China’s leading architect, Pritzker Prize winner Wang Shu, and previously worked for Foster + Partners.
