Qabil Ambak

 

This decorated sportsman has won the nation’s first gold in equestrian sports

Qabil Ambak is a decorated Malaysian equestrian rider who achieved a historic milestone at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023. He secured his first Asian Games gold medal in the Dressage Individual Competition, realising a dream he had held for 25 years. Born in 1980, Qabil has been a dedicated representative of Malaysia in more than six Asian and SEA Games, excelling in jumping and dressage events and accumulating over 20 medals.

His passion for horses began at the tender age of six, and he commenced his equestrian journey at the Royal Selangor Polo Club. Subsequently, he underwent training under the guidance of the renowned German coach, Volker Brommann.

Qabil's vision extends beyond his personal accomplishments; he aspires to foster and promote equestrianism across the Asian region. He firmly believes that anything can be achieved with unwavering determination and hard work. He aims to cultivate a vibrant community of riders and enthusiasts capable of competing on the international stage, thereby bringing pride to the region.

In addition to his dedication to equestrian sports, Qabil is committed to making a positive impact by advocating for the welfare and well-being of horses. He seeks to promote responsible horsemanship and nurture a culture of compassion and proper care within the equestrian community.
