The Rebels The dystopian-pop musician uses fashion as another means to communicate her message

Pyra, whose real name is Peeralada Sukawat (พีรลดา สุขวัฒก์), is a Thai singer-songwriter making a name for herself globally creating so-called “dystopian pop” music, which is often a commentary on modern social injustice. The first Thai artist to perform at the Burning Man music festival in the US, Pyra has also won the Best Solo Act From Asia award at the BandLab NME 2022 Awards in the UK.

Having moved to the UK to work on her music, Pyra says that she has gone through phases of self-searching, self-suppression and depression and has reached a state of self-acceptance and understanding. “My message is quite heavy, so I want to use fashion and lifestyle elements to draw attention and make it easier to digest,” Pyra says.
