Porntip “Mook” Attakanwong is the co-founder and creative director of ATT 19, an open creative space for artists. Her family is behind Bangkok’s renowned Lek Gallery, which is just around the corner from ATT 19. This multidisciplinary art and lifestyle space was repurposed using reclaimed and recycled materials from a school house that was more than 120 years old. It’s home to a shop selling one-off and antique furniture, a restaurant and a gallery featuring works by emerging or overlooked Thai artists.

A graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City, Mook is mindful of the immense impact the fashion industry has on the environment. This has inspired her to become an advocate of the slow fashion movement and of sustainability. “Slow fashion is versatile and flexible. There's no fixed practice,” she explains. “You might not be a zero waste girl, but you can minimise your purchase of fashion goods and buy only the essentials. Little by little, with contribution from everyone, we can make a difference in the world.”
