The research of Professor Pimjai Jaiyen focuses on furthering the understanding of the mechanisms of enzyme catalysis, with the aim of using the knowledge in industrial applications. One use, for example, is to increase the efficiency of biochemicals—which in turn may help society to become more sustainable.

Jaiyen’s journey began at the age of 12 when she dreamt of becoming a scientist, a path which took her to USA where she obtained her doctorate in biochemistry from Michigan State University.

As a leading scientist and tenured professor at the Mahidol University Department of Biochemistry, she applies her knowledge for the betterment of the world. Her contributions have earned global recognition in the scientific community.
