Philip Kadoorie

Philip Kadoorie significantly deepened his multi-generational leadership within the family empire when he officially assumed office as the Non-Executive Deputy Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited (HSH) on 1 January 2025. HSH is the parent company of the Peninsula hotel group; Kadoorie’s father Michael remains the group’s chairman.

Kadoorie fills a number of roles within his family’s business empire, which takes in everything from utilities to hospitality to real estate. Serving on the board and sustainability committee of CLP Holdings, the larger of Hong Kong’s two electricity producers, he was a primary corporate voice across 2025 and 2026 driving regional pricing stability buffer mechanisms and grid reliability amidst severe global energy shocks. He is also a director of the holding company Sir Elly Kadoorie & Sons.

The youngest child of Michael Kadoorie, boss of the family companies, Philip is also the holder of a commercial helicopter pilot’s licence, and works as a director of family-owned business aviation companies Heliservices and Metrojet. He comes from a family with more than 140 years of history in China, initially in Shanghai and subsequently Hong Kong, where his grandfather Lawrence diversified and solidified the Kadoorie empire after the Second World War.
