Philip Kadoorie fills a number of roles within his family’s business empire, which takes in everything from utilities to hospitality to real estate. He is a non-executive director of CLP Holdings, the larger of Hong Kong’s two electricity producers, and a member of its sustainability committee; he is also a non-executive director of Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, owner of The Peninsula; and a director of holding company Sir Elly Kadoorie & Sons.

The youngest child of Michael Kadoorie, boss of the family companies, Philip is also the holder of a commercial helicopter pilot’s licence, and works as a director of family owned business aviation companies Heliservices and Metrojet. He comes from a family with more than 140 years of history in China, initially in Shanghai and subsequently Hong Kong, where his grandfather Lawrence diversified and solidified the Kadoorie empire after the Second World War.
