A force in the digital art scene, Pey-Chwen Lin puts female Taiwanese artists on the map

A digital artist of over 20 years, Pey-Chwen Lin continues to produce ground-breaking work, often tackling the balance of technology and nature in human desires, strengths, and weaknesses. Her works are exhibited in major museums worldwide, including in Taiwan, the United States, and France.

Pey-Chwen Lin was recently awarded first prize in the New Media Art Category at the Florence Biennale in Italy. Her 2019 solo show, Eve Clone Augmented Reality, was exhibited at the QCC Art Gallery in New York City, in the US.

After pursuing arts education in the U.S.A., she received a Doctor of Creative Arts from the University of Wollongong, Australia in 1996. Soon after, she published Women Art Discourse, a pioneering book for female Taiwanese artists. She co-founded the Taiwan Women’s Art Association and was henceforth known as a champion of female artists in Taiwan.

Lin is also a pioneer of digital art, having mounted a series of exhibitions and publishing the first digital art book in Taiwan, Taiwan Digital Art E-Files. In 2021, Lin founded the Lin Pey-Chwen Digital Arts Lab as part of the Department of Multimedia and Animation Arts at the National Taiwan University of the Arts. As its director, she continues to build an ever-growing platform for digital arts and gives young creators an encouraging and well-equipped space in which to develop their talents.
