The elder son of the Henderson group’s celebrated founder Lee Shau-kee, Peter Lee is the chairman of group companies Henderson Land Development, Henderson Investment, and The Hong Kong and China Gas Company.
The brother of Martin, who is Henderson’s joint chairman alongside him, he joined the company in 1985. Early on in his tenure, he was asked by his father to undertake the critical role of spearheading the company’s push into mainland China, and that market remains his focus. Lee is highly committed to philanthropy, focusing on areas including healthcare and poverty alleviation: his Centum Charitas Foundation, established in 2008, aims to harness the energies of leading Hong Kong families for social good, while his Peter KK Lee Care of Life Foundation has funded surgery for more than 20,000 impoverished children with congenital heart disease.
A vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Lee is also a member of the standing committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. He is a Justice of the Peace and received a Gold Bauhinia Star in 2015. Peter Lee is the father of triplet boys.
