Peter Lam

Peter Lam is a leading business executive, film producer and public official who serves as chairman of property giant Lai Sun Development and the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB). Over a career spanning several decades, he has managed diverse corporate assets including Media Asia Group Holdings and apparel brand Crocodile Garments, while guiding major commercial and cultural developments across Hong Kong and Zhuhai.

As chairman of HKTB, Lam successfully steered the city’s post-recovery tourism baseline, recording a powerful visitor rebound throughout 2025. Moving swiftly through 2026, he secured a major three-year partnership with Informa Markets to bring The Festival of Connoisseurs to the territory and rolled out massive multi-destination frameworks under the city’s newly announced First Five-Year Plan. He has also spent years leading Lai Sun in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area project, marked by Lai Sun Group and Zhuhai Duty Free Group signing a strategic agreement for the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. Under the agreement, Zhuhai Duty Free Group’s travel retail projects will be hosted within Novotown, a commercial real estate project by Lai Sun Group designed to offer visitors an integrated tourism and entertainment experience.

Lam has built a widely diversified portfolio across his career. The son of textile tycoon Lim Por-yen, Lam established film production company Media Asia in 1994, backing numerous successful feature films. In 2008, he expanded into fine dining with Lai Sun Dining, operating high-end establishments such as 8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana and China Tang.

The company’s hotel operations, meanwhile, have included The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong and the Four Seasons New York. Lam is also a director of The Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong. Among his many official positions in the film industry, he is chairman of the Hong Kong Chamber of Films, honorary chairman of the Hong Kong Motion Picture Industry Association, a former vice chairman of the Hong Kong Film Development Council and a director of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society.

A member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference national committee, he received the Gold Bauhinia Star in 2015 and the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 2022. He is the father of Lester, Emily, Evelyn, Eleanor, Lucas and Lyann.
