Peter Babej took up the role CEO of Citi Asia Pacific in 2019. Born in the Czech Republic and raised in Germany, Babej joined the bank in 2010, and previously led Citi’s Global Financial Institutions business. In that role he and his team advised Asian clients on numerous landmark M&A and capital markets transactions.

Babej now manages approximately 70,000 staff across Asia-Pacific. Areas of focus include leveraging Citi’s global network to support client growth in the region, expanding its wealth management business in Hong Kong and Singapore, growing its institutional business in mainland China, and driving digital adoption across the firm’s broad range of activities.

In addition to his management role, Babej serves on the board of the Citi Foundation. Before joining Citi he worked in senior roles at Deutsche Bank and Lazard.
