Peng T. Ong

Co-founder and managing partner, Monk’s Hill Ventures

Serial entrepreneur, founder and investor with a knack for launching successful tech companies

As co-founder and managing partner at Monk’s Hill Ventures––a trailblazing, early-stage tech venture capital firm in Singapore––Peng T. Ong is at the vanguard of fostering innovation and growth in the region. His past board memberships in organisations like IE Singapore, IMDA and SUTD reflect this dedication.

Having co-founded game-changing companies like Match.com, Interwoven and Encentuate––whose products generate a combined revenue of US$1 billion (S$1.37 billion) today––Ong’s 25-year career remains a testament to his entrepreneurial prowess.

In September 2022, Monk’s Hill Ventures unveiled the Angsana Council, a non-profit group with a mission to turbocharge business growth in Southeast Asia by engaging in dialogues with entrepreneurs and policymakers.

Besides Ong, the Council’s other founding members read like a who’s who: Charles Ormiston, founding partner of Bain & Company Southeast Asia; Gita Wirjawan, Indonesia’s former Minister of Trade; and George Yeo, the illustrious former Singapore Cabinet Minister.

Beyond entrepreneurship, Ong is known for his tireless efforts in connecting with young, aspiring entrepreneurs, inspired by his own journey that began at Monk’s Hill Secondary School. His mission, he emphasises, has never changed: To create and support the next wave of tech innovators and industry disruptors.

Ong's commitment to Singapore's public service is underscored by the prestigious Public Service Medal he received in 2012
