Pek Lay Peng takes a community-first approach in everything she does. “Seeing the world of design through the lenses of talented Asian creatives has expanded my views and led me to be more open in my fashion choices,” she says. A mainstay in best-dressed lists in Singapore, one can often see Pek dressed in tailored pieces in jewel tones.

She founded SocietyA in 2015, which stocks only Asian designers (the ‘A’ in SocietyA stands for Asia) and now offers over 50 independent labels. In the past few years, she's expanded the boutique's offerings to beauty and homes as well.

She balances this with her work at LadiesFirst, a non-profit organisation that she co-founded, and that supports women’s and children’s causes. She is also the CEO of her family business Shingda, an engineering firm that counts among its clientele the Public Utilities Board of Singapore and Changi Airport Group. Pek has four children.
