The “Iron Princess” CEO of Pou Chen Group leads her shoemaking empire to success

Pei Chun Tsai is an entrepreneur and the eldest daughter of Qir Ui Tsai, chairman of Pou Chen Group, the largest manufacturer of athletic and casual footwear. After graduating from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, she worked as assistant president for ten years at Pou Chen Group, and at 33, took over as CEO.

Because of Tsai’s strict work ethic, she was called Pou Chen Group’s “Iron Princess”. She modernised the company’s leadership culture by hiring young professional managers outside of her family and from other industries. She witnessed corruption while working as his father’s assistant and showed zero tolerance for it when she took the reins. Under her leadership, the company’s annual revenue amounted to NTD249 million in 2020. She leads more than 400,000 employees in Taiwan, Mexico, Indonesia, China, and beyond. Pou Chen Group is an original equipment and design manufacturer for top international brands such as Nike, Adidas, New Balance, and Salomon.
