Taekwondo athlete

This formidable female athlete is the top-ranked female taekwondo athlete in the world in the 49-kg weight class

Panipak Wongpattanakit might be nicknamed “Tennis”, but it’s taekwondo she excels at. Consistently among the highest-ranked athletes in the sport, she broke through with her victory at the 2015 World Taekwondo Championships, winning the event again in 2019, and also notching up golds in the World Taekwondo Grand Slam, the SEA Games (2017, 2019) the Asian Games (2018) and, in 2021, her crowning glory: the Olympics, where she was Thailand’s only gold medallist.

Growing up in a family of athletes, Panipak Wongpattanakit got her passion for sports from her father, a former football and swimming athlete, and mother, a former synchronised swimmer. Entering the world of taekwondo at a young age of 13, Panipak quickly made her mark in the national youth team. After joining the national team, she showcased exceptional performance and steadily developed her skills, becoming a force to be reckoned with. As she transitioned into the adult competition circuit, she demonstrated outstanding form, securing championships in almost every major tournament.
