Tan Sri Pang Tee Chew

Group Chief Executive Officer, Mamee-Double Decker

An F&B stalwart behind Mamee, an internationally recognised homegrown snack empire

Tan Sri Pang Tee Chew is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Mamee Double Decker Sdn Bhd, a successful homegrown snack brand that has dominated its category in the market for over four decades.

The second generation of the family empire, Pang received his education in Japan and later trained at a leading instant noodles factory in food processing, specifically canning and packaging, before returning to Malaysia. After experiencing financial difficulties from stiff competition for their initial products, instant noodles and vermicelli, Pang pivoted to manufacturing snacks when he noticed rubber tappers in the rural areas were eating instant noodles straight out of the packets. Thus was born the Mamee snack, popularised by the friendly fuzzy blue monster mascot.

The company expanded its snack repertories to Double Decker’s Cracker and Mister Potato. It later entered the dairy market with the massively popular Nutrigen cultured milk. In 2012, it launched the well-received Mamee Chef instant noodles. Mamee’s 10 brands and more than 50 products are enjoyed in over 100 countries.
