Possessing “Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent” for days, drag queen Pan Pan is Thailand’s answer to America’s RuPaul. In 2010, after graduating from UCLA and returning to Thailand, Pan Pan decided to have a go at a Lady Gaga lookalike contest. Without any experience in makeup and impersonation, he beat out the competition and was flown to NYC to see his idol in person. The whole experience, during which Pan Pan went out in character every night, eventually led to the birth of Pangina Heals, Thailand’s most visible drag queen. It has come full-circle when she won Lip Sync Battle Thailand (January 2018) with an iconic performance of Lady Gaga’s Telephone. Pangina was best known for making jaws drop at gay bar Maggie Choo’s with her regular performances: a combination of dazzling outfits, insult comedy, and waacking (a dance cousin of vogueing). The LGBT icon, who advocates acceptance, has also featured on The Face Thailand. Currently, Pangina is the co-host and judge on the immensely popular TV show Drag Race Thailand, under the helm of Kantana Group. We can’t wait for her to return from her international tour to grace our TV screens for Season 2!
