Pamela Tan

Passionate about creating art that is accessible to all, Pamela Tan is the architectural designer behind award-winning installations and a diverse portfolio that ranges from large-scale murals to household objects and jewellery. While pursuing her master’s degree in architecture at London’s University of Greenwich, Tan discovered the transdisciplinary nature of her practice. This inspired her to blur the boundaries between art, design and architecture, showcasing how they interlink and complement each other.

Her work has been recognised on a global scale, with two of her projects—Eden and Projection Kite—winning the Bronze and Merit awards, respectively, in the 2020 Design for Asia Awards. In 2023, Sunnyside Up became a social media sensation for its vibrant installation at the Pasar Seni MRT station. Eden was featured in an exhibition at the Beijing Times Art Museum, showcasing the works of 14 acclaimed contemporary artists. After that, Eden embarked on a two-year tour across China, which ended in Gwangju, Korea. This year, Tan was invited to exhibit Tatu, an artpiece inspired by the cultures of Malaysia’s main ethnic groups, as part of the biannual outdoor art show Fresh Air Sculpture in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom.
