Oscar Lopez

Former Chairman Emeritus, Lopez Holdings

Now that he has passed the legacy of his family’s companies down to the next generation, Oscar Lopez can only look back at his long career with pride and relief

In October 2020, Oscar Lopez announced that he was stepping down from his position as chairman emeritus of Lopez Holdings, the parent company of media network ABS-CBN. Earlier, in 2019, he also stepped down as chairman and CEO of First Philippine Holdings, which is now headed by his son Federico “Piki” Lopez. Though he still has a stake in ABS-CBN and is involved in different companies in varying capacities, the Lopez family patriarch is now able to look back at his many decades at the helm of companies that made his family one of the Philippines’ most prominent names. He is also the chairman of the Lopez Group Foundation, a nonprofit organisation for the corporate social responsibility initiatives of the Lopez Group of Companies.

Earlier in his life, Lopez held the positions of director at Sky Cable Corp.; chairman, president, CEO, and COO at ABS-CBN Holdings Corp.; president at Lopez Holdings Corp.; chairman at First Philippine Holdings Fund Corp.; director at Bayan Telecommunications, Inc.; and co-chairman at NLEX Corp.
